it is so expensive to make an add and also to borrow the image of another product. This means that people must really trust in the advert/product that they are making and they will also make a profit. it must also be challenging to squeeze all the information that they want to 'hypnotize' us with in 30 seconds. They have to be very precise as well to aim for the right age group. I didn't realize how much work goes into making an advert! Caitlin xoxo
I totally agree with you Caitlin and I didn't know that the drink was targeted for 18 to 22 year old I thought it would be something like 7 to 16 ? there is so much work put into it and so many different jobs like the creative department think about various ideas and the focus groups do the research etc! the adverts usually are targeted to young people because they will ask and ask and ask until they get their own way . oh and they have to make the advertisements look appealing and catchy and they don't always teel you everything !
HEY GUYS!! I agree with Caitlin, making that particular advert costed £12million and to borrow the Lara Croft image. It was interesting to see how much work goes into a 30 second advert! I didnt believe that that advert was aimed at 18-22 year old men , at first i thought that it was aimed at a younger viewing range like between 12 year olds and 17 year olds but now I understand why its was aimed at the older viewers because of the graphics!! Lucozade has proven to be an energy drink and it says in one of lucozade's earlier ads that it tastes better and keeps you going longer than water but I dont think that is true. What do you think ??? Ciara :) :)
I agree with Catlin. Also, some adverts are well over 30 seconds, some even could be classified as a short film! Carrying on with the Lucuzade advert, it tempts us to basically have a quick burst of energy, then to feel extremely tired after having a sugar rush.
I have a question. If an advertiser was out on the streets doing market research, and they saw somebody that they think would be appealing to adverts. Maybe, they then could whip out their phone and take a photo of the person without the them realising. Next, the advertiser takes the photo back to his/her company and uses them in their advert. Is this possible????? If it was, it would be 'Mr Sparkle' all over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with everybody. Lucozade were very good with their idea about using lara croft, although it took £12 million to pay the video game company!! The advert really temps you to buy the product if you are the one suited to it - they do survays to see what people like and what product they would buy. The actual making of the advert needs the information in order to create the advertisment, like they make focus groups - which are groups for different sections to make it... it takes a lot of work to make a advert fromt the video we watched. i dont really like lucozade but the advert is quite good :) Katy :)
I think that the Lucozade advertisers were very clever to come up with the idea of using Lara Croft to advertise their product, especially when she was very popular at the time. Borrowed interest is a good idea because what you borrowed might appeal to the audience better than creating a new idea to sell the product, however there isn't much point of spending £12 million pounds just to try and sell one product.
I didn't expect the target market to be to people ages 18-24. I thought the would aim it more for younger people because they are more likely to ask and beg for things until they get it, like what Anna said in the lesson.
Before i didn't know that it was for the ill. It is a bit strange that it went from targeting the ill to targeting the healthy. i didn't think that it would be targeted at people from 18-24 because i thought it would be targeted at people from 13-30. It was clever that they used the popular video game because it got them lots of money. faye
I was quite surprised when i found out that the age target was 18-24 because I thought it would be more aimed for a younger focus group. However, when we discussed our opinions with the class, I was more convinced about the chosen age group. I was equally surprised that the brand 'Lucozade' went from curing the ill to energizing the healthy.
I think that the amount they paid to borrow the Lara Croft image was too much however, I think that the idea for using a popular video game to advertise the product was clever because it gained both companies a lot money. POLLYYYY :D

I think it was a really good idea for lucozade to have Lara croft because it made them lots of money but it also cost them £12million to pay to tomb Rader to have Lara croft advertising lucozade. The advert was for Lara croft fans and lucozade fans so they made people enjoy both in 1 ad and that is really clever!!!!! !!!! Aisha:D
I agree with the rest of the girls and I think that the lucozade company must have had a lot of belief in lara croft and lucozade that they would spend 12 million pounds on an advertisement but a man on the video said that the lucozade company were piggy backing off the success of lara croft.
Hi peepzz! Everything that has been said is certainaly agreeable! As polly said, it was too much money borrowing the lara croft image but however, it did attract a lot of publiety! Lucozade is one of those things where people kind of automatically become glued to it! And now there are more new, tounge-bursting flavours (everyone try pink lemonade if you haven't...sooo goooddd!!!!) and more and more adverts which seek attention! Billbob :D
I agree with everyone , It was a LOT of money that was borrowed to use lara croft in the Lucozade advert.I agree with Polly that i was suprised that the age was 18-24yrs because now adays younger people drink it (i do) the thing is it makes you really hyper :D Tilly -{}-[]_=:D
HI I agree with most of the above ,especially about the 12 million it took to have the Lara Croft stamp . But in the long run lucozade ,which has re-invented itself from medicinal purposes to a brand which is targeting 18-24 will be profiting much more. Also they have been very clever in making a connection between taking an energy drink and how it could transform there bodies similar to Lara Croft . Making it attractive to the consumer .I find it interesting to notice that the industry has changed and the flavours of lucozade have varied from one flavour giving people a choice. ISHA :) :)
hiyaaaa i argee with everyone above and i agree with daisy about the 12 million pounds JUST TO TRY THE PRODUCT!! that is a wasted of money they could of gave that money to charity and made a diffrents!
i agree with everyone else, especially daisy it was a really good idea to use lara croft in the lucazade to encourage people to buy there drink and it isnt worth spending 12 million pound on just 1 product nicole !
I agree with everyone else because their wasting so much money over some product that's not even worth it they could of use the money for something that will actually be a good use!!! Madeen:D
